While Nearly Half of Bankruptcies in U.S. are Caused by Illness or Injury, McCain Turns his Back on Families Facing Financial Ruin due to Medical Problems

  • GOP will play fear card again to win election

This is a really great letter to the editor that I read in The State. I think Kelly Evans makes a good point. South Carolina voters, let’s not feed into these tricks.

GOP will play fear card again to win election

Sen. Lindsey Graham, a top John McCain adviser, on Meet the Press this past Sunday had the audacity to claim that Sen. Barack Obama will do anything to get elected president and that his goal is to win, not lead.

The next day, another top McCain adviser, Charles Black, is quoted as saying that the McCain campaign would gain an advantage if there were to be a terrorist attack on the United States. Which campaign will say what to get elected?

For the last eight years, Republicans have played the fear card to push through their agenda: Democrats can’t protect America from terrorists threats, citizens protect your wallets because all Democrats want to do is raise your taxes, only Republicans know the best ways to educate our children, and so on.

Electing John McCain will sound like the line from a long-ago song by The Who: “Meet the new boss, same as the old boss.” Let’s not get fooled again.

    KELLY EVANS
